Heart for Mirabel, originally uploaded by Vintage LOVE.
The title of this post has nothing to do with this gorgeous Heart for Mirabel that Kerry made, but I thought I’d better give you some eye candy to warm you up before I start whinging. (Hopefully I’ll be able to purchase this one when Pip puts them on sale.)
Anyway, the past few days small annoying things have happened to me, so I’m hoping that a) bad things only come in threes, and b) karma has got something good in store for me soon.
First bad thing: Thursday, when one of my workmates commented on my engagement ring, I noticed there was a bit of stuff stuck in the setting, so I went to poke it out, and *ping!* the diamond popped out …thankfully only on to my lap, so I’ve got it safely in a box. Yes, vexing enough but to get it fixed, I have to take the ring off. And oh yes, I’ve put weight on since I got married (as you do) and now it won’t come off at all. Hmmm, stop eating for a bit or get ring cut off…whatya think?
Second bad thing: Thursday night, I was sitting on the couch with my right arm hanging over the back of it, and something bit me. I thought it was merely a flea, given all our critters, the fleas sometimes outnumber me. So I thought nothing of it. The bite area swelled up and was itchy, but as I’m allergic to fleas, I merely thought “damn fleas” and went on my way.
So I wake up this morning to a swollen red patch on my arm around the bite that’s about 10 cm (yes cm, not mm) round and a dull painful throb. Off to the doctor I go to be told, yes it’s a spider bite, yes it’s a cellulitis, yes it’s infected. Yes I feel crap. Also annoyed because last time a spider bit me I did nothing about it until I was nearly hospitalised with blood poisoning and ended up with weeks of green pus, and two big scars on my side and stomach. Bloody spiders.
Third vexatious thing: Mice. I’d organised to buy a gorgeous pink upholstered bedhead, and was going to pick it up this afternoon (bloody spiderbite or not) when the girl that’s selling it rang me back and said she’d just got it out of the garage for me and that she found that mice had chewed a BIG hole in the front corner. A BIG hole. So that put an end to that one, as I’m not up to taking on any projects at the moment such as reupholstering a bedhead.
So big blahs all round. This good thing that’s gonna happen better be damn good.

Try oiling your finger or taking it off in the shower, warm/hot water together with soap is perfect for removing stuck rings. It would be a shame to cut it off.
Hope your arms okay, I’ve seen the (gag-worthy) damage your spiders can do.
