Crayfish Bernard anyone?

crayfish bernard anyone?, originally uploaded by drewzel.
No Sherrin, I didn’t venture into “G’day, where’s the cheese?” (Ack, I just got the “egg ‘em on” jingle in my head now!) Anyone who saw TV cooking shows in the 70’s and 80’s will remember Bernard King. Is he still on the telly?
I thrifted this one as a pressie for a friend, and also it features one of my favourite things about Australia - yabbies.

…is Rolf that is. Rather than Stairway to Heaven. For some reason when I went to the tea room earlier today to make a cuppa, I found myself singing Tie me Kangaroo Down Sport. I don’t know why either. I haven’t found a YouTube of that song yet though.
“…and don’t the kids love him.” You betcha. I like Rolf. I remember watching a TV show in the 70’s called ‘Rolf on Saturday’ that was UK made - I can still sing the song “Rolf on Saturday, okay [clap clap], come on and play, blah blah blah blah* Are you ready for Rolf on Saturday, okay?” !!
And I loved his ability to sing and paint - usually at the same time. And his British Paint commercials. (”Trust British Paints? Sure can.”) When I was a teenager, I got to see him sing and paint for real (at a concert I was involved in as well - Victoria’s 150th celebrations, also had Ricky May and Jackie Love performing- hah)…Rolf sang Sun-arise and I was stoked. Sure he’s daggy, sure he’s cheesy, but hooray for Rolf!
*can’t remember that line
