Vintage Thingy Thursday : tinnie time

All Aussies love to crack a tinnie! Especially me, and a couple of weeks ago (back when I actually had some money, ha ha) I ordered this gorgeous vintage tin from the Tinnie Girl. The other day I collected it from the post office where it had been patiently waiting for me…and hurrah! Such goodness!

A lovely vintage chocolate(?) tin, filled with two pieces of vintage material, vintage buttons, vintage thread and one of my fave things ever, embroidery floss (am I the only one addicted to the stuff…I keep buying it!). Of course the hard question is what to make with my new crafty stash??

If you’re looking for a gift for a crafty girl, check out the Tinnie Girl shop, and for more Vintage Thingys visit it’s new home:

Cats, girls and uniwigs

Further to my previous post, a quick trip to Etsy secured me a print of the aforementioned girl and  cat illustration, entitled ”Through our Winter Window”, and also this delightful one:

The Precarious Uniwig by Marjorie Liucci.

Does anyone else ever get that feeling where you want to take out your eyeballs, wash them and put them back in your head?  All the lingering smoke around the place is making my eyelashes hurt.

My good buddy Gigi has finally opened her Etsy shop, specialising in GORGEOUS handmade pin toppers.  Look what I bought this morning:

She’s also got birdies, mushrooms, apples and cuppiecakes there.  Yay!

Loving Etsy more than usual!

Normally I love Etsy, as my choice for handmade pressies and general crafty goodness. Lately I have realised that people also sell recycled, thrifted and Estate sale items, a la e-bay (but without the bidding nonsense.) Today I was stoked to find an set of vintage Christmas nativity figurines, identical to a set that’s been in my mother’s family for years. And from the same seller, I bought this cute needlework catalogue, for pattern inspiration. But who is Aunt Ellen? I know Aunt Martha, but Ellen?
