Footpath Find

…or sidewalk score if you’re from the US.  Hard Rubbish day is pending in our suburb, and so the nature strips look a bit like a war zone…all manner of crap is there, with the majority being old mattresses and dead couches.  It is also reassuring to see the nice amount of dud treadmills and exercise bikes there too – as per last year, people of my area are still saying NO to exercise.  Ha.  I keep an eye peeled for good stuff, as I drive past, for I have no shame and will scoop up anything that appeals to me. (The council frown on this behaviour and tell us it’s “stealing” from them…me, I think “recycling at a grass roots level”.  They’re just peeved if we get in first because anything good they keep and sell at their second hand recycling centre.)  Anyway, last night while en route to the shops, I picked up this chair.  No I didn’t need it, but I thought the shape was fabulous!

It is covered in icky white vinyl, but I have plans for it.  Any guesses as to it’s age?

Awesome chair Steph! I’d say late 40’s, early 50’s. I doubt whether the white vinyl is original though.

Yep, my guess was that it was recovered some time in the late 60’s. Now I just have to work out how to recover it…or make slip covers?

i love the arms, makes its look art deco to me, but perhaps a later reinterpretation of art deco, cause that curve looks a bit too sharp/tight for art deco. What a score!
