Sunday night

Further to Friday’s post, I have had a quiet weekend, I haven’t left the house, rung anyone, or hardly even touched the computer. Today my carpal tunnel is aching and aching, as I did a whole lotta embroidery yesterday. And baked some raspberry cupcakes. And tried to sew a stuffie for Mirabel. I don’t think that I have any crafting mojo when it comes to stuffies, they just don’t “click” with me. I don’t really enjoy making them, and I worry that they won’t be loved, which seems really sad when you’re personifying something you’re making. Without a pattern, I grabbed some scrap materials and attempted a square robot guy, but I just wasn’t happy with him at all. (I think I’m more conscious about trying to make a great stuffie for the Mirabel kids, I as figure, life’s been treating them badly, so I don’t wanna add insult to injury by giving them a crappo toy!!) Anyway, today I ended up cutting out Amy Butler’s kitty pattern (Birdie the cat, here in free patterns) in polka dot fabric and (if my hands let me) will embroider a face for it later. I plan to base the face on this cute embroidery kitty.
I also started attacking the bedroom mess and got 3 bags full of stuff ready for the op shop. I’m fighting a losing battle against cosmetic clutter. All my make up and toiletries live in the bedroom as our (basically functional) bathroom is a renovation bombsite right now. No, I never wear that Stila Eyeshadow trio in hot pinks and purples, but oh! the container is soooo pretty! oh! it cost soooo much! oh! I can’t throw it away! So I’m constantly fighting against the spread of clothes, shoes, magazines and toiletries over my side of the room. Argh.

Am I the only one who spends the afternoon cleaning, then looks round and thinks “What did I do? The place doesn’t look much different” ? Maybe it’s a chick thing, we always look for what else we have left to do, rather than the things we’ve achieved. Of course, Gatsby cat throwing tuna up all over the kitchen floor didn’t help me feel that the house is clean and luverly either. Oh well, as the magnet on my fridge says “a clean house is a sign of a wasted life.”
PS. Can we please have some more rain?

Those raspberry muffins on Flickr made me come and find you wonderful blog. I will gladly trade you some rain for my ridiculously hot days here in Los Angeles if you’d like.

I’m sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel… it seems like when I finally have time to craft, I can’t crochet or sew as much as I want because of my damn wrist! Ick… I’m too young for this.
Anyway, I’m off to prepare some nuts for Thanksgiving. Everyone’s asleep and I have the kitchen all to myself.
