This is…my most treasured childhood possession

Well, possessions really.  There’s two, both stuffed toys.

Teddy, who was given to me when I was born in 1970, and like everyone’s favourite toys, a bit worse for wear now, after years of love, snuggles in bed, cuddles and kisses.  Everyone loves their teddy.  He has glass eyes (I remember being devastated when one broke), jointed head and limbs and smells very musty, but I still have him, and of course, would never part with him.

And there’s Lionel, his tag says he’s a "JoyToy", I remember seeing him in Ballarat Toyworld in the early 70’s when we went into town to watch the Anzac Day march, and loved him on sight. As a kid I was obsessed with lions, so a toy one was the bee’s knees as far as I was concerned.  If I recall correctly I sat in the shop with him until my dad bought him, one of the rare occasions where petulant bratty behaviour had a postive pay off.  His full name was Lionel Lancelot Leonardo Lion, and he went everywhere with me for years and years.  This pic was him sitting on the verandah, taken by my sis with her Box Brownie camera.  I still have Lionel, and amazingly enough, I still have this photo.  Indeed a joytoy.

This_is_badgeThanks Angela for the fun meme!  And Danielle, it was a great theme suggestion.

Lionel and Teddy are very special. It’s funny how parents know when a tantrum is for a valid cause. Very happy to hear you enjoyed the theme too :)
