eastlink sculpture, originally uploaded by Nikkichick88.

Now that Eastlink provides an easy path from Frankytown to the parental homestead, we’ve been pottering up and down it regularly. And I must admit I do like the sculptures…from the giant blackbird (aka "chicken" to us), the metal spiky thingy, the hotel, and this one, that I’ve dubbed "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" as I have no idea what it’s called. I’m not sure if the artists would view my trivialisation of their work as disrespect, but I figure at least I’m "interacting" with the art, so that’s gotta be good.  A quick Googling failed to yield any useful information, so I’m sticking with the Hungry Caterpillar, although the Age has referred to it as "giant Smarties" too.  Giant Smarties…mmmm.

Postscript – ah, I just found this. The metal spiky thingy is called "Desiring Machine", I like that. And I still prefer my name for the sculpture pictured above.
